Mimo - Instance Creative Challenge
About the project:
Mimo is an educational platform that teaches programming in an accessible, practical, and fun way. With a mission to remove the barriers of technical learning, the company empowers millions of people to take their first steps into the world of development. Now, with the launch of Instance, Mimo goes even further — helping anyone turn ideas into real apps, websites, or games quickly and intuitively, even without any coding experience. This video was created as part of a creative challenge proposed by the Instance team. The goal was to demonstrate how fast and easy the tool is, in a short-form, engaging, and visually striking format.
Concept:
The idea was to contrast the complexity of building an app with the simplicity of a common daily task. I chose a narrative where someone builds an app while making toast — creating a visual metaphor for speed and automation. The implicit question for the viewer is: “If I can do this before the toast is ready, what could I build in that time?”
Execution:
All visuals were generated using AI, based on carefully crafted prompts to maintain a cohesive aesthetic aligned with the brand’s identity — soft purples, minimalist environments, and ambient lighting.
The video design was built from scratch, including the visual layout and art direction. I added motion graphics to animate the still images and bring the story to life. I also chose to work with a lower frame rate (12fps) to create a retro-futuristic aesthetic, reminiscent of early digital animations but with a modern and clean feel — reinforcing the speed and fluidity of Instance.
Result:
A 30-second video with clear visual language, dynamic pacing, and a touch of humor — designed for platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. It invites viewers to imagine how easy building an app can actually be.
